“Returning to our First Love”
FMCIC Week of Prayer and Fasting (Jan.26-Feb.2, 2025)
Welcome to this week of humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God’s face, and turning from any ways in which we have lost our first love for Him. As a family of churches, we are doing this together so that God’s glory will be manifested in us and through us in a world-changing way. To help us on this journey the National Prayer Team has compiled devotionals based on the messages Jesus gave to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation, chapters 1-3.
We hope you will take the time to read the Scriptures and the devotionals related to them, as a way of opening your heart and mind to God’s Word and Spirit, and inspiring your prayers for the revitalization of the FMCIC. We hope each church will find ways of engaging this season of prayer.
For those with questions about fasting, there is an article entitled, “Why Bother Fasting” to help you chose your own form of fasting. There will also be corporate times of prayer with the wider church family that you can participate in as you are able.
Opening Sunday Night Prayer Meeting (via Zoom) - Sunday night, Jan. 26, at 6pm (EDT) Bishop Linda will be introducing this week of prayer and fasting along with a devotional based on the first of the messages to the seven churches in Revelation. Prayer Focus for the Free Methodist Church in Canada
Leadership, Pastors, and Local Churches
1. Church Unity Heavenly Father, we ask for unity within the FMCIC. May we be united in purpose, love, and faith. Heal divisions and knit our hearts together as one body in Christ.
2. Church Leadership Lord, we lift FMC pastors and leaders. Grant them wisdom, strength, and courage. Guide their steps as they faithfully shepherd your people.
3. Revival Lord, ignite revival in our denomination. Stir a fresh passion for you and move powerfully among us, renewing our love and commitment.
4. Wisdom God, grant wisdom to Bishop Linda, the NLT, BoA members, and local leaders. May their decisions honour you and further your Kingdom.
5. Peace Lord, bring peace to the FMCIC. Resolve conflicts with grace and understanding. Let your peace rule in every heart and congregation.
6. Spiritual Discernment God, sharpen our spiritual discernment. Help us recognize Your guidance and avoid deception.
7. Holiness Father, call us to live holy lives set apart for you, reflecting your character in all we do.
8. Spiritual Warfare Lord, equip us with your armour to stand firm against the enemy’s attacks.
9. Next Generation Father, raise passionate young leaders who will follow you and impact the world for Christ.
10. Creativity God inspire fresh ideas for worship, service, and outreach.
11.Reconciliation Lord, restore broken relationships and bring healing where needed.
12. The Holy Spirit’s Presence Father, increase our awareness of Your Spirit’s work, leading and empowering us.
13. Clarity Father, help us discern Your will and make decisions aligned with Your purposes.
14. Missions & Ministry Centre Staff Father, bless our partners in Ghana and Sri Lanka and for our staff at the ministry centre to continue to discern Your will and make decisions aligned with Your purposes and plans.
